I've just seen the date of my last posting and it has been a long time! I've been creating new jewelry, which I never seem to get any pics taken to show off, before I take it to the Artisans' Guild in Oneonta, NY for selling! I've done a few new handbags....sales have slowed down for these....and now need to figure out new bears and "art" dolls for November shows coming up.
The creative room is a mess and I need to spend time cleaning out that space. The summer has been mostly spent helping Sister Risha unload the stuff in her house so that she can sell the house. We had an auction and then sent much stuff to the Rescue Mission here in Syracuse.
We did a show in Clayton, NY...I LOVE that town! Small items sold and people used their credit cards for these small sales, but we made enough to meet expenses. Our close friends are experiencing physical troubles due to age-ing, and we "worry" about their health. It has been a weird year with me not doing much traveling to any place. I have read a lot of books though; enjoy reading and the reclusiveness of that. THE HELP was both a good book and a good movie! Enjoyed!
This piece was my Teddy Bear Artists' Invitational art gallery piece for 2011. It sold! The theme was "Treasures" of which I felt that "Old Friends" was one of my most valued treasures.
Just a repressed writer, wanting to dispense some wisdom?? Ideas for creating bags, beads, art bears, and art dolls, along with some "common sense" views of life in Post-Modern America. "Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody."

Winter?! Sigh....
We're well into March now; the IDES are tomorrow, and the snow continues. An "old fashioned" winter here for sure.....like what I remember from kidhood! But with no Florida reprieve, my sunny personality (HAH!) is draggin' somewhat. I've been creating most everyday....something about "idle hands being the devil's workshop" and now have a PILE of sale-able stuff for shows, shops, or whatever. New critters and pincushions are available; the jewelry is already at the Artisans' Guild in Oneonta.

Time ROARS by....
There is a song that tells about "time slipping away". Well, at my age it seem to be roaring by! November whisked itself off with (meaningless?) busy-ness and now December 3rd is here already. Lots going on....the USA collapsing as I watch....the One-World-Government at the back door. It saddens me, since even though I KNEW this was Scriptural-ized, I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd see this in my lifetime! I'm not really afraid since I know that GOD has promised to watch over and care for His own; but I do have a lot of questions...What's going to happen? When? How about "old" people like myself and my husband? Are we going to be able to sustain ourselves through all the coming changes? What's MOST important right now? How many Americans are truly aware of what's going on? As a "watcher", I've had to reassess my values and basic world view...to re-think what I'd always believed in.
We did the Hunt Valley, MD teddy show in November and had a lovely time. The Embassy Suites is a great place to stay...much ambiance with an atrium in the center of the hotel. We did well there, and I was pleased. I'm showing a few pictures of current bears that I have offered on my etsy.com shop that are still available.

We had a houseful for Thanksgiving: the Button Clan. I am thankful for God's blessings to us. His Son Jesus, is our Savior from our (continual) sins. We have (still) a roof over our heads, and an income that has provided for us in our retirement years. (Love the taxes!! NOT...LOL) I believe we still must retain our faith and belief in Him in order to meet and live through the coming trials and tribulations. SELAH...pause and think about that, Maggie.....

Some Beady New Pins/Brooches
Here are some of the latest creative endeavors from Maggie's Creations. These are shown on http://www.bagsbeadsbears.etsy.com along with some others I've finished. Great lapel pins/brooches that might also be converted into focal pendants with the correct findings. I love doing this type of beadwork. It is really fun to embellish around objects and create a jeweled piece for a discriminating customer. These all are One-Of-A-Kind creations.

The Falling Leaves....Drift By My Window....
The falling leaves of red and gold. Another old song! Another birthday in October....66! We're getting to "Never-Never Land" quickly. We've had an active October already: DH had 3 more stents put in his heart; I left my purse in the Oneonta shop and had to make a run down there to get it. An hour and a half each way. I have been doing some creative stuff...standing pincushions with bear heads a-top...using old candle holders for their bases. I sold some of these in Clayton, NY in August. I've just loved creating these and using up my vintage stuff; making beaded stick pins to place in them. (I don't have any new pics yet). Life is moving on at its' fast pace.
Went to Women of Faith last Saturday and so loved it; great speakers and music. The Lord is continuing to bless us here. Psalm 121....my favorite!

Where The Wild Things Are!!
This is our art gallery creation for the Teddy Bear Artists Invitational upcoming this weekend, the 14th of August. This show is a classy, fun show, with collectors coming from all over the United States. Generally, this is the only teddy show that I do any more since I've gotten older. Binghamton, NY is only an hour from where I live. I am trying another teddy show in November at Hunt Valley in Maryland. I've never been to this show, but I've heard good things about it; my travel "partner" Lucille, has been wanting to go to this for some time, so we're trying it out this year!
Where The Wild Things Are is a neat fantasy book for kids that can inspire lots of fun doll like creations, but I started too late to get my wild things to look the way my brain wanted them to look. Anyone who creates these things, knows that art bears and art dolls usually take on a life of their own, often times not the way we pictured them.

July News Notes.....
Well, I just posted my items to the wrong post. I guess they'll delete it if it's not considered "proper". So, here's what I basically wrote and published to the other site. We're having a wonderful heat wave here in NYS....I'm pretty susceptible to hot/humid, so I try to take it easy. My DH worries about me in this weather, since Hot/Humid and Crohn's seem to go hand-in-hand sometimes. I'm posting some new items here that I'll be showing at TBAI in August (Teddy Bear Artists' Invitational, Binghamton, NY). This is a premiere show that I just love being a part of, even as I grow older and do not get as much creative work completed as I'd like. I still have an abundance of ideas, but have other demands upon my time which seem to interfere with play time. These items are smaller, and so less expensive, but these are created from antique fabrics....a rayon (mohair texture) child's coat, and woolen carriage robes.
